DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur friend Sara Feagans was recently diagnosed with colon cancer\, and we’re helping support her journey to recovery with a watch party of one of her favorite movies\, ANGUS. We’ll have a raffle with great prizes before the film. Whether you know and love Sara or just want to enjoy a fun night with a ’90s cult classic\, we invite you to join! \n\n\n\n“A battle cry for those that didn’t fit in” – Patrick Read Johnson \n\n\n\nA comedy for the weirdos\, the outcasts\, and anyone who’s ever felt out of place\, Angus is the rowdy funny and triumphant story of a dorky\, overweight kid (Charlie Talbert) with a crush on the popular cheerleader. After Angus is crowned King of the Winter Ball as a Carrie-esque prank\, he manages to turn humiliation into triumph\, with the help of his oddball family (Oscar winners Kathy Bates and George C. Scott) and tragically uncool bestie (Chris Owen). Powered by a perfectly ’90s alt-rock soundtrack featuring Weezer\, Green Day\, and the Goo Goo Dolls\, Angus “delivers\,” as Roger Ebert put it\, “a rousing ‘up yours’ to all the snotty high school golden boys [and] a climax that I\, for one\, found wholly the equal of anything in Rocky.” \n\n\n\n DOORS: 7 pm MINGLING & RAFFLE: 7-8 pm MOVIE: 8 pm \n\n\n\nAll proceeds for this event will go straight to Sara! SUMMARY:67 BOMBS TO ENID (2026) + in-person Q&A with co-director Kevin Ford
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Deeply moving…a benchmark for documentaries focusing on the people impacted by injustice and celebrating their heritage” – Dan Ingram\, News9 \n\n\n\nBetween 1946 and 1958\, the United States of America conducted 67 known nuclear weapons tests in the Marshall Islands\, on Bikini and Enewetak Atolls. Decades later\, thousands of Marshallese survivors and their descendants now live in the United States and one such community has settled on the plains of Enid\, Oklahoma. 67 BOMBS TO ENID is an intimate\, character-driven documentary that weaves first-hand accounts of the detonations with the testimony of the generation born after — tracing displacement\, generational trauma\, and a community’s insistence on joy and cultural pride in the unlikeliest of American towns. It speaks to the need for durable solutions to the harms caused by the nuclear legacy\, as well as the Marshallese peoples continued pursuit of nuclear justice. Executive Produced by Errol Morris. \n\n\n\nCo-director Kevin Ford will join us after the film for an in-person Q&A! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArkadin does not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films\, as sensitivities vary from person to person. However\, we encourage researching titles to determine if a screening may contain content that could be upsetting to you. Please feel free to contact us for guidance on specific films. SUMMARY:THE EXORCIST (1973) w/ Talk by Troy Taylor\, author of 'The Devil Came to St. Louis' about the local real-life story that inspired the film
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for a very special night exploring the notorious 1949 St. Louis exorcism that inspired William Peter Blatty’s novel The Exorcist and the blockbuster film adaptation that shocked and terrified a nation. Troy Taylor\, author of The Devil Came to St. Louis\, a history of the local case\, will introduce the film with a talk on the real-life local story. Then we’ll watch William Friedkin’s immortal shocker\, and after the film\, Troy will give some details about the film’s “curse\,” including the deaths that happened on the set and the serial killer who was in the film. \n\n\n\nDOORS: 6 pmTALK: 6:30 pmFILM: 7 pmPlus a bonus mini-talk on the deaths surrounding the film production immediately after the film! \n\n\n\nAdapted by William Peter Blatty from his controversial bestseller\, this shocking 1973 thriller set an intense and often-copied milestone for screen terror with its unflinching depiction of a young girl (Linda Blair) who is possessed by an evil spirit. Jason Miller and Max von Sydow play the priests who risk their sanity and their lives to administer the rites of demonic exorcism\, and Ellen Burstyn plays Blair’s mother\, who can only stand by in horror as her daughter’s body is wracked by satanic disfiguration. One of the most horrifying movies ever made\, The Exorcist had audiences fainting in the aisles and puking in the lobbies upon its original release. It’s lost none of its power to shock in the intervening half century. \n\n\n\nTroy will also be selling and signing copies of The Devil Came to St. Louis in the lobby! \n\n\n\nNOTE: This event is not available with the Club Arkadin pass. \n\n\n\nABOUT THE DEVIL CAME TO ST. LOUIS The 1949 exorcism that took place in St. Louis\, Missouri\, has become one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history. But is the story so mysterious because of the events that occurred — or because so much of the story has been kept secret over the years? After the events in the story concluded\, it was decided that further investigation of the case was “counterproductive”\, and details were buried. The identity of the allegedly possessed boy was hidden to protect his identity. If not for a series of coincidences\, the story would have never likely been revealed at all and would never have inspired books\, films\, documentaries\, and more. \n\n\n\nABOUT TROY TAYLORTroy Taylor is the author of more than 150 books on history\, hauntings\, true crime\, the unexplained\, and the supernatural in America. He is the founder of American Hauntings Ink\, which offers books\, events\, and ghost tours\, and is the owner of the American Oddities Museum in Alton\, Illinois. He is also the writer and co-host of the American Hauntings Podcast.  He has appeared in numerous television shows and documentaries\, and his book about the St. Louis Exorcism of 1949 is currently under option to be turned into a film by a major production company.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArkadin does not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films\, as sensitivities vary from person to person. SUMMARY:Dolly Parton in 9 TO 5 (1980) -- FREE screening presented by STL DSA
DESCRIPTION:“An absolute delight of working class rage…If only these three characters could take charge of the United States for a few years.” – Egregious \n\n\n\nAn of-the-moment social comedy with enduring ramifications\, 9 to 5 focuses on the trials and tribulations of three working women\, fabulously played by Jane Fonda\, Lily Tomlin\, and the late\, great Dolly Parton (making her extraordinary movie debut). Suffering under the world’s worst—and most sexist—boss (Dabney Coleman)\, the trio live out their madcap fantasies of revenge and ultimate triumph\, proving themselves in the process. Powered by Dolly’s timeless title theme tune\, 9 to 5 remains razor-sharp satire on the institutional and interpersonal misogyny of American corporate life\, as well as a raucous\, rousing crowd pleaser. \n\n\n\nThis 100% FREE screening is presented by St. Louis Democratic Socialists of America\, who will introduce the film. No ticket required. Seats are first come\, first served. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTheater Policies\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll seats are first-come\, first-served.\n\n\n\nThe theater opens 30 minutes prior to showtime\, except for “Happy Hour” events and pre-shows when the theater opens at the listed start time.\n\n\n\nWhen a screening is sold out\, we open a waitlist 30 minutes before showtime. SUMMARY:CALIGULA: THE ULTIMATE CUT (2023) with Aaron Shaps\, editor of The Ultimate Cut & author of Caligula: The Official Story of the Film
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Aligning closely with Gore Vidal’s original script\, Caligula: The Ultimate Cut climbs out of its salacious cocoon to become what it was always meant to be: a genuine masterwork tracking one man’s descent into madness painted on a canvas of hedonism.” – But Why Tho \n\n\n\nAbsolute power corrupts absolutely in Caligula: The Ultimate Cut\, an extensive reconstruction of the notorious 1980 spectacle. Shadowed by the murder of his family\, Caligula (Malcolm McDowell) eliminates his devious adoptive grandfather (Peter O’Toole) and seizes control of the Roman Empire alongside his wife Caesonia (Helen Mirren) before descending into a spiral of depravity\, destruction\, and madness. Constructed entirely from previously unused footage\, The Ultimate Cut is “a historic act of preservation” (Variety) that restores this work from its notoriously altered original theatrical version—which featured hardcore sex scenes inserted by the film’s producer\, Penthouse editor Bob Guccione—to its proper status as a glorious\, vicious “masterpiece” (Unspooled). \n\n\n\nAfter the film\, we are honored to welcome Aaron Shaps\, editor of The Ultimate Cut and author of Caligula: The Official Story of the Film\, for a discussion and Q&A. Aaron will also have copies of his books available for purchase! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArkadin does not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films\, as sensitivities vary from person to person. SUMMARY:LA HAINE (1995) -- Free screening presented by MICA Project
DESCRIPTION:“★★★★★ – Radiates with rage and comedy… La Haine is an unmissable response to an unending emergency.” – The Guardian \n\n\n\nMathieu Kassovitz took the film world by storm with La Haine\, a gritty\, unsettling\, and visually explosive look at the racial and cultural volatility in modern-day France\, specifically the low-income banlieue districts on Paris’s outskirts. Aimlessly passing their days in the concrete environs of their dead-end suburbia\, Vinz (Vincent Cassel)\, Hubert (Hubert Koundé)\, and Saïd (Saïd Taghmaoui)—Jewish\, African\, and Arab\, respectively—give human faces to France’s immigrant populations\, their bristling resentment at their marginalization slowly simmering until it reaches a climactic boiling point. A work of tough beauty\, La Haine is a landmark of 1990s French cinema and a gripping reflection of its country’s ongoing identity crisis. \n\n\n\nThis 100% FREE screening is presented by the Migrant and Immigrant Community Action Project (MICA Project)\, who will introduce the screening.
