SUMMARY:THE SPIRIT OF BEEHIVE (1973) ᴘʀᴇꜱᴇɴᴛᴇᴅ ʙʏ ʟᴏꜱᴛ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴀʀᴛʜᴏᴜꜱᴇ
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLOST IN THE ARTHOUSE is a monthly series hosted by Arkadin co-owner Keith Watson that takes you to hidden corners of filmdom far from Hollywood. From must-see classics to obscurities waiting to be discovered\, these films stand at cinema’s bleeding edge. \n\n\n\n“Close to magic. It is one of the most beautiful and arresting films ever made in Spain\, or anywhere.” – The Guardian \n\n\n\nWidely regarded as one of world cinema’s most magnificent achievements—it’s no accident that it ranked in the top 100 in Sight & Sound‘s prestigious 2022 “greatest films” poll—Victor Erice’s THE SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE is a spellbinding masterpiece about the immersive power of cinema. Set in a small Castilian village in 1940\, in the wake of the devastating Spanish Civil War\, six-year-old Ana (Ana Torrent\, in what is easily the most tender film performance ever given by a young child) attends a traveling movie show of the 1931 classic Frankenstein and becomes possessed by the experience of it. blurring her understanding of art\, mortality\, and violence. Produced as Franco’s long regime was nearing its end\, THE SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE is a bewitching portrait of a child’s haunted inner life and one of the most visually arresting movies ever made\, a work of darkly lyrical beauty with a touch of magical-realist horror. …And it also happens to be the perfect arthouse accompaniment to Arkadin’s month-long exploration of Female Frankensteins! \n\n\n\nWhy should Jessie Buckley have all the fun? We’re celebrating brides\, monsters\, mad doctors and more this month with our FEMALE FRANKENSTEINS series\, featuring thrills\, chills\, dark laughs and twisted loves\, all culminating with our screenings of the widely-acclaimed new horror-comedy DEAD LOVER! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArkadin does not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films\, as sensitivities vary from person to person. However\, we encourage researching titles to determine if a screening may contain content that could be upsetting to you. Please feel free to contact us for guidance on specific films. Information about content can also be found on Common Sense Media\, IMDB and DoesTheDogDie.com\, as well as through general internet searches. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTheater Policies\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll seats are first-come\, first-served.\n\n\n\nThe theater opens 30 minutes prior to showtime\, except for “Happy Hour” events and pre-shows when the theater opens at the listed start time.\n\n\n\nAll ages are welcome at Arkadin except for Drinkolas Cage events\, which are restricted to 21+. SUMMARY:NUMBSKULL REVOLUTION (2026) -- the new film from punk rock madman Jon Moritsugu
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA PUNK ROCK BLADE RUNNER FOR ARTISTS FROM LEGENDARY PROVOCATEUR JON MORITSUGU! \n\n\n\nWith raucous\, three-chord cinematic bangers such as Terminal USA (1993) and Mod Fuck Explosion (1994)—both of which played at Arkadin in 2023—the Godfather of Punk Cinema\, filmmaker\, punk rocker\, Asiansploitation progenitor\, and all-around madman Jon Moritsugu defined the trashy\, rough-hewn DIY aesthetic of 1990s underground filmmaking. Arkadin is thrilled to welcome Moritsugu’s work back with the area premiere of his new film\, NUMBSKULL REVOLUTION! Moritsugu’s first feature in over a decade\, NUMBSKULL was created with longtime collaborator and ex-wife\, Amy Davis\, who co-stars as Cucumber Montgomery\, alongside James Duval as Futurcide\, a pair of rival conceptual artists battling for fame and funding in the near-future dystopia of Shitville\, pop. 999.8 billion. As one ascends the heights of neoliberal capitalist success\, the other seeks inspiration and solace in the euphoric waves of a new cyber-drug called Skullfuck. Embracing chaotic digital artificiality in a style reminiscent of Vera Drew’s The People’s Joker\, NUMBSKULL combine ingenious production design and savvy location shooting to evoke the urban sprawl and rural industrial collapse against which Mortisugu frames this scathing satire of art world pretension. (adapted from UCLA note written by Senior Public Programmer Paul Malcolm) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArkadin does not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films\, as sensitivities vary from person to person. DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“CHEERFUL\, KITSCH AND CAMP… [with] a succession of truly amazing fashion creations with all the confidence of a generation that thought sex was\, above all\, fun.” – Empire \n\n\n\nSlip out of your spacesuit and into something more comfortable! It’s time to join Barbarella on a series of cosmic adventures in this lavish\, lascivious Dino De Laurentiis production based on the risqué French comic book series. Starring Jane Fonda in a star-making turn as the titular space cadet\, BARBARELLA may take place in the distant future of 40\,000 A.D. but couldn’t look more deliciously 1960s. With glorious retro-futuristic costumes and groovy\, psychedelic art design\, this James Bond-meets-Forbidden Planet space adventure pits intergalactic secret agent Barbarella against evil scientist Durand Durand (Milo O’Shea)\, who’s created a deadly weapon with the potential to cause mass devastation. With an all-star Swinging Sixties cast that includes Blowup hunk David Hemmings\, Rolling Stones muse Anita Pallenberg\, and miming maestro Marcel Marceau\, BARBARELLA truly defined an era and maintains enormous camp value as a groovalicious dispatch from the age of free love. \n\n\n\nThis screening was rescheduled from Jan. 25 due to snow. SUMMARY:Feminist Classic FEMALE PERVERSIONS (1996) -- new 4K restoration!
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“One of the most provocative films I’ve seen about the complications of being female in the modern world” – Roger Ebert \n\n\n\nIn her US film debut\, Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton stars as Eve Stephens\, a bi-sexual lawyer on the edge of professional breakthrough\, personal breakdown\, and sexual awakening in this erotic psychological drama. Inspired by Louise Kaplan’s psychoanalytic study Female Perversions: The Temptations of Emma Bovary\, Susan Streitman’s film is an inspired amalgamation of erotic drama and psychological thriller in which Eve tries (and often fails) to juggle professional demands\, personal desires\, and her strained relationship with her kleptomaniac sister (Amy Madigan\, nominated for an Academy Award this year for her powerhouse performance in Weapons). Shocking when it was first released in 1996 and now rightfully considered feminist classic as it celebrates its 30th anniversary\, FEMALE PERVERSIONS has presented in a sumptuous new 4K restoration. \n\n\n\nThis film is screening in Arkadin’s April 2026 Sunday Series on WOMEN DIRECTORS\, featuring a selection of unusual\, rarely screened works from female filmmakers. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArkadin does not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films\, as sensitivities vary from person to person. SUMMARY:Jan Švankmajer's ALICE (1988) presented by Dark Dream Cinema
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDark Dream Cinema is a monthly film series devoted to the creeping undercurrents of the arthouse scene\, hosted by Michael Morlaine. \n\n\n\n“It’s experimental\, unusual\, a little mad\, and definitely not an Alice adaptation to show the kids. Unless you want to give them nightmares for weeks.” – Joe’s Horror Reviews \n\n\n\nThe dark heart of Alice in Wonderland was never more faithfully captured than by stop-motion maestro Jan Švankmajer\, who rendered its well-worn imagery into a startling new vision. By animating an array of found items—including raw meat\, taxidermy\, porcelain dolls\, and playing cards—Švankmajer crafted a Wonderland all his own\, a haunting realm of fantastic sights and disturbing juxtapositions. Hailed as a landmark of modern animation\, Alice blends the imagination of Lewis Carroll with the grotesquerie of Joel-Peter Witkin to produce an experience like no other. A truly singular work of art\, it offers a glimpse into another world\, one of joyful terrors that cavort amidst death and decay. \n\n\n\nArrive early for a preshow of spooky stop-motion from around the world\, starting at 6pm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArkadin does not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films\, as sensitivities vary from person to person. SUMMARY:MONTY PYTHON'S LIFE OF BRIAN (1979) w/ Monty Python pre-show
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“An unholy work of satirical genius…MONTY PYTHON’S LIFE OF BRIAN still stands up as an amazing achievement\, the Pythons’ masterpiece: a 90-minute sketch elevated to an entirely consistent\, hugely audacious and ambitious film.” – The Guardian \n\n\n\nThis Good Friday\, enjoy a biting satire of religious dogma that is\, at its heart\, a stirring paean to tolerance. While perhaps not quite as popular as Holy Grail\, LIFE OF BRIAN is Monty Python’s true masterpiece—an inspired\, brilliant\, send-up of the blockbuster biblical epic that raised the hackles of Christian fundamentalists the world over when it was first released but has gone on to be recognized as one of the greatest comedy films ever made. In a stable in ancient Jerusalem\, a child is born—a child who will grow up to be … Brian (Graham Chapman)\, an ordinary Judean who goes on to live an extraordinary life\, entangled in a plot to overthrow the Roman empire and mistaken for the Messiah\, among other unlikely events. Featuring ribald Roman puns\, sharp political commentary\, and an audacious crucifixion-themed musical number\, the Pythons’ most ambitious film is a hilarious lampooning of blind faith in which nothing is sacred. \n\n\n\nCome out before the film for a Monty Python pre-show starting at 6 pm! \n\n\n\nThis Good Friday\, the Easter Bunny has dropped off a couple of Easter Eggs: Monty Python’s Life of Brian and Donnie Darko. DESCRIPTION:THIS SCREENING IS SOLD OUT. A SECOND SCREENING AT 9 PM HAS BEEN ADDED! \n\n\n\n\n\nBUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“MARS displays the kind of comedy tradition The Whitest Kids U’Know are part of: smart people making the most stupid and surreal jokes possible…utterly gleeful about death\, mutilation\, and gore while scoring deliberately cheap satirical points… After all\, who doesn’t want to see a tech billionaire’s head explode?” – Bleeding Cool \n\n\n\nMARS is the animated feature film from cult comedy troupe The Whitest Kids U’ Know. The film tells the story of Kyle\, an average guy in his 30s who is about to marry his nagging girlfriend and take over a dental practice he hates. Desperate for a way out\, he enters a contest hosted by eccentric billionaire Elron Branson to be one of four “average people” to visit Mars. Unfortunately\, he wins! SUMMARY:Marlene Dietrich in queer-coded pre-code classic MOROCCO (1930)
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“A magnificent exploration of passion\, featuring iconic gender fluidity…This film is cinematic poetry ” – Jay Jacobson \n\n\n\nMOROCCO not only introduced Marlene Dietrich to English-speaking audiences\, the film revolutionized fashion and eroticism with the androgyny of her iconic tuxedo. Here\, Morocco isn’t a real place. It’s a sensual realm of the European imagination where wealthy hedonists mingle with adventure-seekers\, and women can escape narrowly defined social and sexual roles. Gary Cooper and Adolphe Menjou also appear in this film\, but who was looking at them? Marlene Dietrich steams up the screen in her first appearance in an American film – her second in a cycle of seven collaborations with director Josef von Sternberg. MOROCCO is a lavishly detailed\, unashamedly romantic frame-story for Dietrich’s mesmerizing musical numbers. In the film’s most heavily publicized scene\, Dietrich swaggers through a cabaret wearing a tuxedo and top hat by costume designer Travis Banton\, before kissing a female patron. Her playful gender satire catapulted women’s trousers into the fashion mainstream\, and shaped queer iconography for generations to come. It also inspired Yves Saint Laurent’s 1966 Le Smoking collection of women’s pantsuits. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArkadin does not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films\, as sensitivities vary from person to person. DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“One of the grossest\, most absurd love stories you’ll ever have the pleasure of seeing!” – Geek Vibes Nation \n\n\n\nA hit on the festival circuit—including at Hysteria Fest\, hosted here at Arkadin!—Grace Glowicki’s DEAD LOVER is an aromatic horror-comedy treat full of wit\, weirdness\, and delightful disgust. Glowicki herself stars as a lonely gravedigger\, perpetually stinking of corpses\, who finally meets her dream man\, but their whirlwind affair is cut short when he tragically drowns at sea. Grief-stricken\, she goes to morbid lengths to resurrect him through madcap scientific experiments involving his severed finger\, resulting in grave consequences and unlikely love. A deliciously strange riff on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein\, DEAD LOVER is what we like to call “a very Arkadin kind of movie.” \n\n\n\nDEAD LOVER is screening twice: a standard showing on April 9 and a STINK-O-VISION showing on April 10. Choose your preferred screening at checkout. \n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING… \n\n\n\n“It’s such a bizarre experience that you might wonder\, ‘WTF is this?!’ (complementary) You’ll be so invested\, you won’t care.” – B-Sides & Badlands \n\n\n\n“As a piece of genre Midnight mayhem\, Dead Lover delivers… For those drawn to the bent…they just might fall in love with Dead Lover for all of its foul\, fecund\, and farcical facets.” – Collider \n\n\n\n“Dead Lover is like a German Expressionist film with silly voices\, color gels\, and fart jokes. It’s hilarious\, it’s bizarre\, it’s 100\,000 watts of weird beamed directly into your skull from the mind of an artist that it completely unrestrained.” – Nightmare on Film Street \n\n\n\n“A loony\, earnestly delirious dark romantic film with a handmade quality.” – RogerEbert.com \n\n\n\n“Grace Glowicki’s ‘Dead Lover’ is a scrappy and transgressive unearthing of the fine line between beauty and the grotesque. It’s the punk kid sibling to recent Gothic revivals like ‘Nosferatu’ and ‘Poor Things.'” – Dread Central \n\n\n\n\n\nWhy should Jessie Buckley have all the fun? We’re celebrating brides\, monsters\, mad doctors and more this month with our FEMALE FRANKENSTEINS series\, featuring thrills\, chills\, dark laughs and twisted loves\, all culminating with our screenings of the widely-acclaimed new horror-comedy DEAD LOVER! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArkadin does not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films\, as sensitivities vary from person to person. SUMMARY:LADY TERMINATOR (1988) -- Friday Night WTF! -- $5
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday Night WTF screenings are cheap\, weird\, and out of control! Cult trashterpieces\, so-bad-they’re-good crapfests\, movies that make you ask “What the hell am I watching?!” — we’ve got ’em all on Friday night. \n\n\n\n“My best theatrical experience of the year! Bat sh*t crazy…one of a kind and a vital part of the genre film canon.” – Sean Baker\, director of Anora \n\n\n\nSHE MATES…THEN SHE TERMINATES. An excessively perverted mash-up of action\, horror and exploitation\, LADY TERMINATOR is a neon-soaked\, fifty-uzi salute to The Terminator\, eye lasers and crotch violence against men. A brazen and beautiful act of pure plagiarism\, LADY TERMINATOR rips off James Cameron’s original and gives it a distinctly Indonesian spin: When a man steals a ghost snake from a witch\, she declares revenge on his entire lineage. The curse comes true 100 years later\, when a lady anthropologist is possessed by the ghost snake and transformed into a cyber-robotic master of death known as Lady Terminator. A genuine grindhouse fever-dream classic\, LADY TERMINATOR demands to be seen with a crowd. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTheater Policies\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll seats are first-come\, first-served.\n\n\n\nThe theater opens 30 minutes prior to showtime\, except for “Happy Hour” events and pre-shows when the theater opens at the listed start time.\n\n\n\nAll ages are welcome at Arkadin except for Drinkolas Cage events\, which are restricted to 21+. SUMMARY:Stop-motion animated treasure MY LIFE AS A ZUCCHINI (2016) w/ Cipollino the Onion Boy (1972)
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“As unexpectedly enchanting as its title is initially perplexing\, My Life as a Zucchini is short but oh so satisfyingly bittersweet\, an example of the kind of movie magic that’s always hard to find.” – Los Angeles Times \n\n\n\nA handcrafted stop‑motion treasure\, MY LIFE AS A ZUCCHINI is sharp\, funny\, and quietly devastating—a story about resilience that never sugarcoats pain but still finds room for hope. A shy nine‑year‑old nicknamed Zucchini is sent to a group home after a family tragedy\, only to discover a ragtag crew of kids carrying scars of their own. Through awkward friendships\, small rebellions\, and a budding romance with fierce newcomer Camille\, he learns that found family can be just as real as the one you lose. Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Film\, ZUCCHINI was co-written by the brilliant Céline Sciamma\, director of Portrait of a Lady on Fire\, and directed by Claude Barras who conjures a pastel-hued world bursting with pure emotion. Presented in the English-dubbed version\, featuring the voices of Nick Offerman\, Amy Sedaris\, Will Forte and Elliot Page. \n\n\n\nBut that’s not all! This vegetative double feature also includes the uproarious animated short CIPOLLINO THE ONION BOY! A blast of Soviet slapstick with a political bite\, CIPOLLINO turns a garden full of talking produce into a miniature class uprising. The eponymous Onion Boy fights the unjust treatment of his fellow vegetable townsfolk by fruit royalty\, Prince Lemon and Lord Tomato\, using wit\, mischief\, and a rebel’s spirit. With bright and bouncy hand-drawn animation\, this deceptively clever satire is a 38-minute riot of color\, character\, and anti‑authoritarian spirit that was a fixture of many Soviet kids’ upbringing. \n\n\n\nThis screening is part of Arkadin’s April 2026 series\, HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW?—featuring botanical wonders\, homicidal flora\, and secret gardens for you to make your escape. \n\n\n\nEach month\, DRAWN VISIONS presents an outré gem from the wild\, wonderful world of animation. Focusing on the strange\, the underseen\, and the unclassifiable\, this series proves cartoons aren’t just for kids\, they’re for total freaks too! SUMMARY:KOYAANISQATSI (1983) presented by Lost in the Arthouse
\n\n\n\n“One of the most eye-opening works of art created in the late 20th century” – The Cinephile Fix \n\n\n\nAn unconventional work in every way\, Godfrey Reggio’s KOYAANISQATSI was a sensation upon its initial release and retains a cult-like following to this day. A wordless\, yet entrancing collage of Philip Glass’s hypnotic score and cinematographer Ron Fricke’s monumental imagery\, this trippy survey of the Northern Hemisphere’s rapidly changing environment shuttles viewers from one jaw-dropping vision to the next\, moving from images of untouched nature to others depicting human beings’ increasing dependence on technology. Heavily utilizing trippy time-lapse photography to suggest the frenetic pace of modern life\, KOYAANISQATSI—whose title comes from a Hopi word meaning “life out of balance”—is a plea for humanity to find some equilibrium with the fragile planet we all inhabit. Whatever you think of its hippie-ish ecological message\, the film remains one of cinema’s great transformative experiences. No one who’s seen it can ever shake its awe-inducing power. \n\n\n\nThis screening is part of Arkadin’s April 2026 series\, HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW?—featuring botanical wonders\, homicidal flora\, and secret gardens for you to make your escape. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArkadin does not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films\, as sensitivities vary from person to person. SUMMARY:Psychedelic sleaze-burger DESPERATION RISING (1989) presented by St. Louis Video Society
DESCRIPTION:SAINT LOUIS VIDEO SOCIETY digs deep in its extensive archives to present the weirdest\, wildest\, most incredible VHS obscurities. Always free\, always presented by Video Society archivist James Milam! \n\n\n\nWhat if David Lynch dropped acid and remade Scarface? This is just one of thousands of questions that will not be answered while your brain is invaded by DESPERATION RISING. Starring Nick “Son of John” Cassavetes and dozens of real-life Los Angeles gang members who appear as part of a rehabilitation program\, this is the best movie on earth about a stockbroker seminar that turns into a cocaine-fueled rage war. DESPERATION RISING is filled with dad karate\, phone sex\, real sex\, cocaine\, humans exploding\, talking parrots\, Uzi battles\, more cocaine\, and rappin’ kids. This psychedelic sleaze-burger could only be better if director/star Jason Holt wrote and recorded Casio-soaked yacht rock songs with titles like “Get Ready To Rip” and “Love Blooms” for the soundtrack. SUMMARY:LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (1986) -- 40th anniversary screening w/ killer plants pre-show
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Funny\, fun\, catchy\, and well worth its reputation” – Cinema Crazed \n\n\n\nFour decades on\, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS remains one of the great cult comedy musicals\, a riotous camp\, horror\, and some damn fine tunes. An adaptation of an Off-Broadway musical inspired by Roger Corman’s 1960 dark comedy film\, LITTLE SHOP turned the scrappy stage hit into a full-blown pop spectacle\, starring Rick Moranis as meek florist’s assistant Seymour\, whose life changes when he discovers Audrey II\, a smooth‑talking\, soul‑singing plant with a taste for human blood. Ellen Greene is adorable as Seymour’s mousy co-worker Audrey and Levi Stubbs turns in an all-time great villain performance as the voice of the killer plant\, while a host of comedy ringers—Jim Belushi! John Candy! Christopher Guest! Bill Murray! Steve Martin!—turn in memorable cameos. LITTLE SHOP’s blend of practical effects wizardry and jet‑black humor remain utterly irresistible. \n\n\n\nCome out before the film for a free-ranging pre-show featuring some of the scariest and funniest killer plants in cinema history\, starting at 6 pm. SUMMARY:A CHINESE GHOST STORY (1987) -- Friday Night WTF!
\n\n\n\n“Pure madness! The 1987 cult classic is wonderfully wild.” – Counter Arts \n\n\n\nThe most hyperactive ghost story this side of Evil Dead II\, A CHINESE GHOST STORY smashes together slapstick chaos\, wire‑fu acrobatics\, rubbery monsters\, and delirious dream logic. Produced by legendary Hong Kong filmmaker Tsui Hark\, the film is a supernatural carnival ride that never slows down\, turning on a dime from swoony love story to shrieking horror-comedy to wuxia showdown. Packed with tree demons\, hopping corpses\, killer wolves\, and decapitated-head soup\, GHOST STORY employs glorious handmade effects and loopy Looney Tunes physics to create one of the wildest\, wackiest and most wonderfully bewildering films you’ll ever have the pleasure of gaping your mouth at. SUMMARY:THE DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS (1981) -- the entire classic miniseries about flesh-eating plants
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Remains one of the best global disasters seen on the screen\, haunting and frequently terrifying. Its influence remains strong.” – The EOFFTV Review \n\n\n\nThough adapted before and after\, John Wyndham’s classic post-apocalyptic novel THE DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS received its definitive treatment in 1981 when the BBC transformed the text into a gripping 6-part miniseries that terrified audiences with its harrowing tale of a world stricken by mass blindness and overrun by triffids\, ambulatory flesh-eating plants. Perfectly balancing its enthralling storytelling with a bit of sci-fi cheese\, the series asks serious questions about morality\, our responsibility to others\, and the foundations of human civilization — all while the characters dodge the venomous\, harpoon-like stingers of the triffids. A major influence on 28 Days Later\, TRIFFIDS is intelligent\, unnerving\, and a lot of fun. \n\n\n\nArkadin presents all six episodes\, running about 150 minutes\, with an intermission. \n\n\n\nThis screening is part of Arkadin’s April 2026 series\, HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW?—featuring botanical wonders\, homicidal flora\, and secret gardens for you to make your escape. SUMMARY:TOUCH ME (2026) -- “The tentacled erotic horror comedy you didn't know you needed”
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“The tentacled erotic horror comedy you didn’t know you needed…part absurdist\, gross-out romp\, part erotic thriller\, and part lo-fi sci-fi… It’s rare that something this confidently unique finds its way out into the world\, but TOUCH ME is destined to find a dedicated fan base who love eroticism and goo.” – ScreenAnarchy \n\n\n\nTwo codependent best friends become addicted to the heroin-like touch of an alien narcissist who may or may not be trying to take over the world in Addison Heimann’s weird\, wild\, horny\, hideous\, goop-slathered slab of midnight-movie madness\, TOUCH ME. Starring Olivia Taylor Dudley as rudderless single gal Joey and Jordan Gavaris as her lazy stoner roommate Craig\, the film finds the duo taking refuge from their shit-stenched apartment in the sprawling compound of Joey’s ex\, Brian (Lou Taylor Pucci)\, who just so happens to be an alien whose physical touch leaves humans in a heroin-like state of liberating ecstasy that drains all worry from their bodies. Filled to the brim with offbeat comedy\, surreal eroticism\, gloopy practical-effects horror\, and an atmosphere of woozy cosmic dread\, TOUCH ME is “31 flavors of weird” (The Pitch). \n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING…\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Do you like Gregg Araki? Cthulhu? Hentai? Then this film is one-stop shopping. It’s a genre-spanning freak buffet about\, among other things\, unhealthy attachment styles\, friendship\, trauma recovery\, unhealthy coping mechanisms and…um…tentacle sex.” – The Pitch \n\n\n\n“This fun\, quirky film uses its absurdity to explore its more serious subjects without distraction. Amidst the laughter and the tentacle-driven moments onscreen is something heartfelt and a little broken\, making this a surprisingly deep experience.” – ButWhyTho \n\n\n\n\n\n“An ambitious\, sexually charged horror satire…Touch Me is the kind of film you kind of question if you should be watching but can’t look away once it locks you in.” – That Hashtag Show“For those who tune in to the freaky\, goofy\, and sincere frequencies there’s a specific genius running through the work that’s nigh on irresistible.” – AWFJ \n\n\n\n“Austin Powers 2 on acid” – Albert Birney\, director of OBEX \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArkadin does not generally provide advisories about subject matter or potentially triggering content in films\, as sensitivities vary from person to person. SUMMARY:"Wicked\, witchy folk freak horror" ENYS MEN (2022) — 𝔉𝔬𝔩𝔨 ℌ𝔬𝔯𝔯𝔬𝔯 𝔄𝔯𝔬𝔲𝔫𝔡 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔚𝔬𝔯𝔩𝔡
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“A wicked\, witchy folk freak horror… the witchy atmosphere Jenkin conjures is spine-tinglingly devilish\, the poetic manifestation of the subject’s deep grief\, ever-ambiguous and frosty\, taking on the aching melancholy of loss. The present trend of elevated horror be damned: this is how you do it.” – The Playlist \n\n\n\nENYS MEN is a mind-bending Cornish folk horror set in 1973 that unfolds on an uninhabited island off the Cornish coast. A wildlife volunteer’s (Mary Woodvine) daily observations of a rare flower take a dark turn into the strange and metaphysical as she descends into a terrifying madness that challenges her grip on reality and pushes her into a living nightmare. Is the landscape not only alive but sentient? Shot by Jenkin on grainy 16mm color film stock and with post-synched sound\, the form feels both innovative and authentic to the period. Filmed on location around the disused tin mines of West Penwith\, it is also an ode to Cornwall’s rich folklore and natural beauty. Evoking the feeling of discovering a reel of never-before-seen celluloid unspooling in a haunted movie palace\, this provocative and masterful vision of horror asserts Mark Jenkin as one of the U.K.’s most exciting and singular filmmakers. \n\n\n\nEach month\, Arkadin presents a selection of FOLK HORROR AROUND THE WORLD\, creepy folktales from all corner of the globe to give you the Sunday scaries. DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Give Anna Faris a retroactive Oscar for [this] cult classic\, a masterful and still under-appreciated entry to the stoner comedy canon…a hilarious all-in-one-day misadventure that rivals After Hours\, Run Lola Run\, and Uncut Gems in terms of its sheer narrative escalation.” – Nylon \n\n\n\nCult queer filmmaker Gregg Araki (The Doom Generation\, Nowhere) and should-be-one-of-Hollywood’s-biggest-stars Anna Faris take you on the ultimate trip in our almost-4/20 screening of the contemporary cult classic SMILEY FACE. SUMMARY:GODZILLA VS. BIOLLANTE (1989) w/ kaiju pre-show
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“One of the finest installments in the Godzilla franchise…with the greatest practical-effects monster that the franchise has ever produced” – Slant Magazine \n\n\n\nDiving into delirious realms of imagination\, this entry in the Godzilla franchise’s 1980s resurgence showcased the towering beast for a new generation of fans. This time\, Godzilla’s foe is one of the series’ most wondrously strange kaiju creations: Biollante—a mutant plant genetically engineered from the cells of a rose\, a renegade scientist’s dead daughter\, and Godzilla itself. With a wild plot encompassing spies\, psychic children\, and bonkers biotechnology—and some of the coolest special effects in the history of Japanese cinema—GODZILLA VS. BIOLLANTE stands as a high point in the ever-evolving mythology of the King of the Monsters. \n\n\n\nCome out early for a kaiju pre-show featuring some of the most insane giant-monster battles\, starting at 6:30 pm.
