Rock ‘n’ Roll High School (1979)

September 10, 2021 : 8:00 pm

“An iconic cult classic!” –Consequence of Sound

A rollicking blast of punk-rock exuberance, Allan Arkush’s Rock ‘n’ Roll High School stars The Ramones as the biggest band in the world, mop-topped superstars who soundtrack the antics of bad-girl high-schooler Riff Randell (P.J. Soles) as she makes life hell for her imperious, rock ‘n’ roll-hating principal (Mary Woronov). Produced by B-movie maestro Roger Corman and co-written by legendary filmmaker Joe Dante (Gremlins, The ‘Burbs), the film boasts a non-stop playlist of rock tunes from Chuck Berry, Nick Lowe, Alice Cooper, Devo, MC5, Fleetwood Mac and more. Featuring delightfully odd touches like a giant mouse and a crazed manager who force-feeds Joey Ramone powdered alfalfa, Rock ‘n’ Roll High School is an anarchic, gag-a-minute ride as packed full of energy as a 2-minute punk tune. A true cult classic.
