Madcap Surrealist Comedy DAISIES (1966) w/ Czech animated shorts pre-show @ 7 pm

February 19 : 7:30 pm 9:00 pm

“Exhilarating…radically mischievous…visually arresting and capricious.” –The New York Times

The Czech New Wave’s most anarchic entry, Věra Chytilová’s absurdist farce Daisies follows the misadventures of two brash young women, both named Marie. Believing the world to be “spoiled,” they embark on a series of pranks in which nothing—food, clothes, men, war—is taken seriously. Full of dazzling visual experimentation and giddily surrealist antics, Daisies is an aesthetically and politically adventurous film that remains one of the wildest rides in all of cinema.

Come out early for a pre-show of weird, wild and wonderful Czech animated shorts beginning at 7 pm.
