ACTION U.S.A. (1989) w/ B-Movie Bingo, presented by Strange Brew

July 6, 2022 : 8:30 pm

Creep down Gravois from the newly renovated Tim’s Chrome Bar to the Arkadin Backlot in our first-annual BEVO ZOMBIE WALK!

First we’ll dress up like a zombie, grab a few drinks at Tim’s and check out the updated space. Then together we’ll stalk down Gravois to the Arkadin for a zombie movie and dance party! This event features a pre-film intro by Jon Scorfina of Strange Brew and post-film DJ set by Tilda Sweatin!

Anyone dressed as a zombie who participates in the Zombie Walk gets into the film for FREE!

At this screening, we’ll be playing B-Movie Bingo! You’ll get a bingo card with typical B-movie stuff (explosions, nudity, slow-motion death…you get the idea) — If you’re the first to get Bingo, you’ll win free concessions!

Turns out a stuntman-turned-filmmaker unleashed the most explosive, death-defying, bullet-riddled, grenade-launching, flame-broiled, anti-human megattack in independent film history — shot right in Texas – back in 1989, and no one knew… UNTIL NOW.

When you think of the broad panorama of VHS-era action, your mind detonates with fast cars, helicopter chases, profanity, nudity, stolen diamonds, FBI agents, men on fire and Casio soundtracks. But what if we told you there’s one single movie that impossibly squeezes all of the above into 89 minutes, not to mention sunroof gunfights, a car jumping over a school bus packed with screaming children, honkytonk brawlin’, bathroom kissin’, plus exploding cars, houses AND recreational vehicles? In the late ‘80s, against all known laws of reality, daredevil-turned-filmmaker John Stewart took to the cities, highways and saloons of Texas and accomplished that very feat in ACTION U.S.A.
