ALUCARDA (1977) — “a glorious, sacrilegious feast of blood-drenched insanity!”

October 24 : 8:30 pm 10:00 pm

Alucarda is a glorious, sacrilegious feast of blood-drenched insanity, unflinching nudity, and shrieking histrionics. It’s easily one of my favorite horror movies, and among the bloodiest ever made.” – Pop Culture Beast

Catholicism, Satanism and Lesbianism collide in this underseen Mexican horror masterpiece. Inspired by Sheridan Le Fanu’s lesbian-vampire classic Carmilla, ALUCARDA tells the tale of young orphan Justine (Susana Kamini), who is taken in at a creepy convent overrun with nuns cloaked in blood-soaked rags. Justine’s roommate, Alucarda (Tina Romero), soon introduces her to the forbidden pleasures of sex and Satan, prompting a brutal exorcism by the resident priest. Much bloody screaming and exploding nuns ensue! Directed by Jodorowsky collaborator Juan Lopez Moctezuma, explodes in a torrent of blood, death and damnation that’s certain to leave you shaken.
