Dog-Friendly Screening! — ISLE OF DOGS (2018)
June 10, 2022 : 8:30 pm
Tonight we turn Arkadin into BARKadin! Bring your pooch and join us for a screening of Wes Anderson’s ISLE OF DOGS. Doggie ($2) and human ($9) tickets are sold separately. Dogs must be on-leash at all time. You are responsible for your pet and for cleaning up after your darling angel. We reserve the right to ask any party to leave. This event is also ALL AGES, so bring the (older) kids and the dogs!
“It’s a series of moving paintings, tableaux vivants, a goofy dog comedy, a grim totalitarian allegory. It’s sui generis. It’s the damnedest thing.” –Vulture
In this stop-motion-animated film from writer/director Wes Anderson, an outbreak of canine flu in Japan leads all dogs to be quarantined on an island. A boy (voice of Koyu Rankin) journeys there to rescue his dog Spots (Liev Schreiber), and gets help from a pack of misfit canines who have also been exiled. His quest inspires a group of dog lovers to expose a government conspiracy. The voice cast also includes Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Bob Balaban, Greta Gerwig, Yoko Ono and of course this month’s featured star, the ethereally elegant Tilda Swinton as the wise, TV-watching Oracle.
