DONNIE DARKO (2001) — 25th Anniversary!

April 3 : 9:00 pm 11:00 pm

“The first cult classic of the 21st century! Remains one of the most relevant, urgent and timely films of the last 50 years.” – Film Inquiry

Before Stranger Things combined science fiction, Spielbergian thrills and 1980s nostalgia, Richard Kelly did it first with DONNIE DARKO. Initially beset with distribution problems, it would slowly find its audience and emerge as one of the defining cult films of the new millennium. Described by its director as “The Catcher in the Rye as told by Philip K. Dick,” DONNIE DARKO is a dark and twisted trip haunted by Frank, pure nightmare fuel in an evil rabbit suit who informs our intrepid titular hero (Jake Gyllenhaal) that the world will end in 28 days. This ain’t no cuddly Easter Bunny! Also starring Jake’s sister Maggie Gyllenhaal, Patrick Swayze, Drew Barrymore, Mary McDonnell, Katharine Ross and The Pitt‘s Noah Wyle, DONNIE DARKO celebrates 25 years of scrambling audiences’ brains.
