EMANON (1987) presented by St. Louis Video Society

November 10 : 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

Free

SAINT LOUIS VIDEO SOCIETY digs deep in its extensive archives to present the weirdest, wildest, most incredible VHS obscurities. Always free, always presented by Video Society archivist James Milam!

What is Emanon? Or rather, WHO is EMANON?! Why he’s a magical, mysterious homeless man played by writer/director Stuart Paul in one of the most bizarre vanity projects ever conceived. This “modern-day wino Christ” (LA Weekly) must help a very wealthy, sick child (Growing Pains‘ Jeremy Miller) and his fashion-designer mom overcome the grief of losing a loved one. Not one to shy away from savior vibes, the titular Emanon makes messianic mischief as he spouts half-baked, New Age psychobabble, all while saving the family’s floundering fashion business. The film itself is a family affair with not just one, but SIX (!) Pauls working in front of, and behind, the camera–including Baby Geniuses franchise producer Steven Paul. They’re practically the Osmonds with so much talent in their DNA!

EMANON (1987) has never been released on DVD, Blu-ray or streaming, so this is a once in lifetime chance to catch the film on VHS at Arkadin on Monday November 10th at 7pm!
