Enchanted rom-com I MARRIED A WITCH (1942) w/ “Bewitched” pre-show @ 1:30 pm — $7
October 11 : 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm
“An accomplished confection, I Married a Witch is required Halloween viewing.” – TV Guide
Before there was Bewitched, there was I MARRIED A WITCH. This blissfully hilarious romantic comedy features terrific chemistry between Veronica Lake (Sullivan’s Travels) and Fredric March (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, showing this month at Arkadin!) that is—dare we say it—pure magic! This delicious romp from French master René Clair gives its seasoned leads a chance to break away from stereotypically serious roles (intense leading man and film noir vamp, respectively) and prove their comedic prowess. Lake stars as an ancient Salem witch once burned at the stake, who returns to haunt descendants of the Puritans who let her smolder — namely aspiring politician March. Lake concocts a love potion, but things get complicated when said potion works on Lake instead and she falls for March. Hijinks and enchantment ensue!
Come out early for a BEWITCHED pre-show at 1:30 pm, featuring suburban enchantress Samantha (the timeless Elizabeth Montgomery) and her hapless hubby Darrin (the largely interchangeable Dicks York and Sargent).
