Feminist Classic FEMALE PERVERSIONS (1996) — new 4K restoration!

March 29 : 7:30 pm 9:30 pm

“One of the most provocative films I’ve seen about the complications of being female in the modern world” – Roger Ebert

In her US film debut, Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton stars as Eve Stephens, a bi-sexual lawyer on the edge of professional breakthrough, personal breakdown, and sexual awakening in this erotic psychological drama. Inspired by Louise Kaplan’s psychoanalytic study Female Perversions: The Temptations of Emma Bovary, Susan Streitman’s film is an inspired amalgamation of erotic drama and psychological thriller in which Eve tries (and often fails) to juggle professional demands, personal desires, and her strained relationship with her kleptomaniac sister (Amy Madigan, nominated for an Academy Award this year for her powerhouse performance in Weapons). Shocking when it was first released in 1996 and now rightfully considered feminist classic as it celebrates its 30th anniversary, FEMALE PERVERSIONS has presented in a sumptuous new 4K restoration.
