H.P. Lovecraft’s FROM BEYOND (1986) w/ Lovecraftian Horror pre-show @ 6 pm

October 9 : 7:00 pm 8:30 pm

“Deranged, obscene and encapsulates everything that’s great about horror movies. Sublimely weird…and then downright unhinged.” – The Guardian

Following up on the success of his 1985 film Re-Animator, director Stuart Gordon’s From Beyond presents another harrowing interpretation of acclaimed science fiction and horror writer H.P. Lovecraft’s uniquely unsettling tales of of terror. The story centers on a pair of scientists attempting to stimulate the pineal gland with a device called the Resonator, but there’s an unforeseen side effect: the device allows the user to perceive creatures from another dimension. When the creatures drag head scientist Dr. Edward Pretorious into their dimension, he returns as a grotesque shape-shifting monster that preys upon the others at the laboratory. Featuring incredible special effects designed by Mark Shostrom (Evil Dead II), including giant worms, carnivorous flies, and tons of oopy-gloopy body horror, From Beyond has solidified its legacy as one of the most iconic independent horror films of the 80s. This gruesome glimpse into the dark side of science is one half of a Lovecraft double feature, so if you need even more cosmic horror in your life, grab a ticket to Color Out of Space!

Before the film, our Lovecraftian Horror pre-show begins at 6 pm.
