NOIRVEMBER: Relentless rollercoaster of suspense WOMAN ON THE RUN (1950) — $3

November 29 : 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

“The best film noir you have never seen!” – Eddie Muller, host of TCM’s Noir Alley

A lean, nervy slice of late‑period noir, Woman on the Run finds Ann Sheridan—who also produced the film herself, outside the strictures and sexism of the studio system—racing through the streets of San Francisco on a quest to find her husband, who’s taken flight after witnessing a gangland murder. Filmed on location in the City by the Bay, San Francisco’s hills and waterfront become a nocturnal labyrinth of piers, bars, and back‑alleys, all humming with menace. Director Norman Foster, a protégé of Orson Welles, brings scintillating style to this elementally simple story, which reaches its crescendo at a waterfront amusement park where Ann Sheridan takes a roller coaster ride for her life.
