PUMPKINHEAD (1988) — outdoor screening w/ pumpkin carving + free pumpkin pie!
October 30 : 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
It’s All Hallow’s Eve Eve, and it’s time to carve your pumpkin! So join us on the backlot for a screening of Pumpkinhead with a pumpkin carving station. Pumpkins available for $8, plus we’ll have FREE pumpkin pie!
An alluring mix of ’80s slasher thrills, monster movie pyrotechnics, silent-film moodiness, and folk-horror atmospherics, PUMPKINHEAD is one of the most unusual entries in the 1980s horror boom. The debut feature from special effects wizard Stan Winston, PUMPKINHEAD follows tells the tale of Ed Harley (Lance Henriksen), a man who seeks the powers of a backwoods witch to bring his son back to life after he’s accidentally killed by a group of rowdy teens. But instead, the witch invokes the Pumpkinhead – a monstrously clawed demon which, once reborn, answers only to Ed’s bloodlust. As the creature wreaks its slow, unspeakable tortures on the teens, Ed confronts a horrifying secret about his connection to the beast and realizes that he must find a way to stop its deadly mission before he becomes one with the creature forever. PUPKINHEAD offers “horror, fantasy, supernatural thriller and tragedy all wrapped up in an enthralling, phatasmagorically realized whole” (The BluFile).
Come out early for a Pumpkin Patch pre-show starting at 6:30 pm, featuring some seasonal treats as you carve your pumpkin.
