RYE LANE (2023) w/ A Tribe Called Quest pre-show

February 28 : 3:00 pm 4:45 pm

“The greatest romantic comedy to be released in recent memory” – Katie Carter, Katie at the Movies

A buoyant British romantic comedy that puts pretty much every other stab at the genre this decade to shame, RYE LANE is everything you want in a rom-com. It’s funny, full of life, and features two leads with genuine chemistry: David Jonsson as the recently-broken-up-with Dom and the also-recently-broken-up-with Yas. The two meet-cute at an art exhibition before spending a whirlwind day together, sharing Before Sunrise-style banter against the bustling environs of South London before setting off on a mission to recover Yas’s copy of A Tribe Called Quest’s The Low End Theory from her ex’s flat. Set to the groovy chill beats of composer Kwes and filmed in vibrantly colorful style, RYE LANE is a film to fall in love with.

Come out before the film for a pre-show devoted to A Tribe Called Quest, beginning at 2:30 pm.

“No other British film has, in a generation, done such imaginative work in restructuring romantic comedy. It is one of those rare films the audience didn’t know it really, really needed.”
—Donald Clarke, The Irish Times

“Not since Spike Lee introduced the world to Bed–Stuy, has a Black director so seamlessly embedded viewers into the verve and flavor of their neighborhood.”
—Robert Daniels, The Playlist

“A hugely enjoyable romp that effortlessly combines the ‘limited time’ romcom format of Richard Linklater’s Before trilogy with the in-your-face visual cheekiness of Peep Show
—Mark Kermode, Observer
