SHOW PEOPLE (1928) presented by Silents, Please! STL

March 11 : 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

This film is presented by Silents, Please! STL and will feature a special introduction from SPSTL’s Kate Stewart.

“Delightfully self-aware! The cameos and in-jokes are as fun as the film itself” – Lara Gabrielle

Marion Davies stars in this lively Hollywood satire about Peggy Pepper, a wide‑eyed Georgia girl who heads to Los Angeles dreaming of stardom. She stumbles into slapstick roles, becomes a surprise comedy sensation, and ultimately reinvents herself as a glamorous dramatic actress, only to realize she’s losing touch with who she really is. An affectionate, fast‑moving send‑up of the studio system, SHOW PEOPLE is packed with in-jokey cameos from a host of silent-era stars, including Douglas Fairbanks, Louella Parsons, Norma Talmadge, and Charlie Chaplin.
