Employing her trademark silhouette style, in which hand-cut puppets glide across intricately detailed backdrops, Reiniger takes us to an exotic fantasy world based on folk tales from One Thousand and One Nights, full of sorcerers, demons, flying horses and more. Anticipating the Walt Disney feature formula, Reiniger’s film mixes charming comedy with romance, danger, and magical adventure. This cinematic treasure has been beautifully restored with spectacular color tinting and a full orchestral recording of the magnificent 1926 score by Wolfgang Zeller.
