Based on the allegedly classic non-fiction book by parapsychologist John A. Keel, who investigated sightings of the eponymous creature in and around Point Pleasant, West Virginia, The Mothman Prophecies stars Richard Gere as a grief‑stricken reporter who chases a trail of impossible sightings of a winged figure that induces hideous nightmares and fevered visions in those it visits. Pulsing with dread, this bold, beautiful, supremely creepy gem remains one of the most underappreciated horror films of its era.
