THE MUMMY THEME PARK (2000) — a late-night disasterpiece of epic proportions

October 25 : 10:00 pm 11:30 pm

★★★★ – “I tell you this is one of the greatest Disaterpieces I have ever seen! I don’t really know what the hell happened during it and I’m not sure anyone really does, but wow is it amazing!” – Tony the Terror, Letterboxd

Alvero Passeri remains one of the great undiscovered masters of so-bad-it’s-brilliant filmmaking. An Italian Ed Wood with a penchant for nonsensical yet creative plots, surrealistic touches, and absolutely bugfuck effects, Passeri is perhaps “best” known for his killer-fish WTF-er Creatures from the Abyss, but THE MUMMY THEME PARK might just be his masterwork. An unrepentantly bizarre would-be shocker about an amusement park built on top of a mass Egyptian tomb whose animatronic mummies start coming to life, this film features goopy gore, insane practical effects, and some genuinely impressive miniatures, as well as some of the most inane dialogue and off-the-wall theme park ideas you’ve ever heard. It’s Jurassic Park meets The Mummy (1999) with a Troll 2 execution, and… It. Is. GLORIOUS.
