THE SECRET GARDEN (1993) presented by Girlhood

April 4 : 4:30 pm 6:30 pm

After her neglectful parents die in an Earthquake in colonial British India, moody Mary Lennox is sent to live at the mysterious moors of Yorkshire to live with her hermit uncle at his estate – Misselthwaite Manor. And boy does she hate it. Misselthwaite is dark and dusty, the moors are wet and windy, her uncle wants nothing to do with her, the head housekeeper is crabby and creepy, her maid is nosey AF, and the house echoes with the annoying cries and moans of an invisible source. But she’s not gonna cry about it because feelings are for weaklings.

To fill the time Mary starts snooping around and not only discovers a secret garden, but also a secret cousin who may or may not be suffering from Munchausen by proxy.

An essential coming-of-age tale, THE SECRET GARDEN embraces childhood curiosity and resilience telling the story of a girl who heals herself through agency, imagination and nature.
