THE TRIP (1967) w/ “LSD: Insight or Insanity” @ 6:30 pm presented by Strange Brew

April 2 : 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

This film is presented by St. Louis’s long-running cult film series Strange Brew and will feature a pre-film intro by Strange Brew programmer Jon Scorfina.

The Trip is a radical psychedelic film that follows Paul (Peter Fonda) as he embarks on his first LSD trip. Directed by “the king of cult” Roger Corman, written by Jack Nicholson, and starring New Hollywood icon Peter Fonda, the film’s kaleidoscopic journey down the Sunset Strip following Paul’s wild night on LSD blew the minds of a new generation of filmmakers in 1967. Roger Corman was able to perfectly capture Paul’s “far out” experience with a series of quick cut abstract images, body-painted Go-Go Dancers and the music of The Electric Flag, crafting arguably the grooviest horror movie ever made. Released right in the middle of the Summer of LoveThe Trip quickly became a popular cult classic and helped define and document the late ’60s psychedelic counterculture, ultimately paving the way for its generation’s definitive cultural touchstone Easy Rider

The educational documentary/ propaganda special LSD: Insight or Insanity will start as a pre-show at 6:30 pm.
