VIDEOHEAVEN (2025) w/ Arkadin Video Store!

August 28 : 7:00 pm 10:00 pm

“An absorbing, funny, rigorous work of pop-cultural scholarship” – Adam Nayman, Cinema Scope

Socio-cultural hub, consumer mecca, and source of existential dread; the video rental
store forever changed the way we interact with movies. With narration by Maya Hawke
over footage culled from hundreds of sources (from TV commercials to blockbuster
films), Alex Ross Perry’s Videoheaven tells the story of an industry’s glorious,
confusing, novel, sometimes seedy, but undeniably seismic impact on American movie
culture.

Come out before the film for the Arkadin Video Store. Each ticketholder can check out one video tape from the Arkadin holdings…forever! Take a tape to Video Heaven by giving it a permanent home.

This film is screening as part of Arkadin’s series Video Store Heaven. Based around the St. Louis premiere of Alex Ross Perry’s Videoheaven, which explores the lost world of video stores as depicted onscreen, we are presenting some of the works featured in Perry’s sprawling essay film.
